The 11th Asia-Pacific Sustainable Development Forum, held in Bangkok, commenced with a strong call for nations to swiftly implement urgent actions and be supported by robust and continuous multilateral cooperation. Organized in February 2024 by UN ESCAP, the event aims to evaluate progress toward sustainable development goals in the region, share experiences, and develop solutions. Among the focal points of the forum are food systems, energy access, digital connectivity, education, employment, and climate change. However, alarming data was shared indicating that at the current pace, the Asia-Pacific region may miss 90% of the 118 measurable SDG targets by 2030. A joint report by ESCAP, ADB, and UNDP underscored the urgent need for concerted efforts to combat climate change, poverty, and hunger in the region.
