The İstanbul Technical University Library and Documentation Department has initiated awareness activities on open science and open access topics. An informative event was held online on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM as part of the efforts to promote open science practices. This event also was the first in a series of activities planned within the framework of the EELISA innoCORE project, in which İstanbul Technical University is a partner. 'What is Open Data and How Does It Support Science?' which was held as part of International Open Access Week on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Interactive Panel – Open Science Marathon for Early Career Researchers

The academic world is increasingly competitive, especially for early career researchers (ECRs). They face challenges like limited job opportunities, geographic disparities, funding imbalances, and more. However, addressing global sustainability issues like climate change requires the engagement of young researchers. To support ECRs, it's crucial to understand their expectations and challenges and develop policies accordingly. An interactive seminar was hosted by ITU Library and Documentation Department, aimed to do just that by discussing the role of open science in improving the research environment for ECRs. Open science was seen as a way to remove barriers for ECRs, and the seminar invited ECRs to share their voices and ideas. Event Hosted by Center of Excellence in Education:

Against the backdrop of the prevailing civilizational challenges in Europe, there has been a growing societal awareness of the urgent need for a more sustainable world. The pivotal role of future engineers in shaping this sustainable future has been underscored. However, as the demand for engineering professionals continues to rise, industrial and business organizations have encountered increasing difficulty in recruiting adequately trained and job-ready graduate engineers. The questions of how to attract young engineering talents, how to equip them holistically, and which skills and competencies they require to address sustainability challenges became of paramount importance. The purpose of this event was to offer an overview of the recent outcomes of the A-STEP 2030 (Attracting DiverSe Talent to the Engineering Professions of 2030) Erasmus+ project, which focused on preparing the engineers of tomorrow to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for a better world. Talks - Alumni Career Talks by ITU Gıda Mühendisliği Kulubü

ITU Food Engineering Club, established in 2001, has been actively fostering connections not only within our institution but also among all Food Engineering students over the past two decades. The main aim of their social and academic events is to facilitate students' personal growth, facilitate meaningful industry interactions, and provide invaluable guidance on their career journeys. In alignment with this vision, they regularly host engaging career talks featuring industry alumni, such as the Head of Production of Golf Icecream, Director from Metro Turkey, the R&D Director from PepsiCo Texas, and Regulatory & Scientific Affairs Specialists from Nestle, to name a few. Additionally, club offers career-focused meetings to assist students with CV preparation and interview skills, further enriching their professional development. Summit – FoodUp’22 by ITU Gıda Mühendisliği Kulübu

ITU Food Engineering Club organized a summit about 'The Foods of the Future and Sustainability on March 19-20, 2022, via Zoom, bringing together top-quality companies and experts with everyone. Convention - CIVILCON (Civil Engineering Convention) by ITU MHK –– 18-22 March 2022-

Since 2006, the ITU MHK Club has been proudly hosting an annual civil engineering convention. In 2022, from March 18th to 22nd, the 17th edition of CIVILCON was successfully organized by the ITU MHK Student Club. The event saw participation from 780 attendees within Turkey, with an additional 20 attendees representing 7 different countries from around the world. Alongside various social activities, the convention featured hands-on workshops such as scaffold assembly and wall construction, providing a valuable blend of academic knowledge and practical application.

Conference – SEG (Sustainable Ecosystem Days) by ITU CMK

Sustainable Ecosystem Days (SEG) is a national organization in Turkey prepared by members of ITU Environmental Engineering Student Club and hosted by an expert debater. Sustainable Ecosystem Days’12 was organized April 15-16th, 2022. It is the first carbon neutral congress of ITU, has been held since 2009. It offers free participation to young and dynamic students from many cities of Turkey and from all age groups, academics who have worked and are working with a Sustainability approach, environmental technologies, sustainable environmental approach and sector representatives with a global sensitivity and vision on the environment. Seminars are given to participants for two days by way of morning and evening sessions. The invitation of debater and participants, technical infrastructure, organizational chart, announcements, accommodation of the participants, sponsor agreements are all organized by these students. Through increasing the number of participants and reaching wider masses with each new congress, SEG creates a social environment for its participants and also creates the opportunity to present thoughts on the topics discussed.
