Community anti-poverty programmes
Our university is dedicated to addressing SDG 1 (No Poverty) through a comprehensive approach that extends its impact to the local community. We have established the İTÜ Çekirdek Incubation Center, a thriving hub of innovation, which actively supports the creation of financially and socially sustainable businesses. Additionally, we provide training, consultancy, mentoring, networking opportunities, and a range of support services to inspire technology startups and contribute to their success in the market, thus fostering economic growth and reducing poverty locally.
Our Continuing Education Center (ITUSEM) offers programs that promote access to essential services, including a Sustainable Development Certificate Program and daily talks on various sustainability topics, fostering awareness and knowledge sharing in our community. Moreover, our university actively engages in policy development to address poverty, as seen in our collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change in the preparation of the Turkey Spatial Strategy Plan. In these ways, our institution is making significant strides toward tackling poverty comprehensively, not only within our academic community but also in the broader local and national contexts.
