The Istanbul Technical University Ayazağa Campus is home to rare species.

Assis. Prof. Dr. Özgür Ekincioğlu, who works in the Department of Civil Engineering, identified the Pallas's Leaf Warbler, which was seen for the 7th time in Turkey and the 2nd time in Istanbul. Wildlife photographer Alper Tüydeş photographed the Pallas's Leaf Warbler in ITU.

The sighting of this rare bird once again emphasized the importance of the ITU campus for the ecosystem of Istanbul and Turkey.
